Future Makers: From Ideas to Local Impact

“Future Makers: From Ideas to Local Impact” connects employability, civic participation and local governance in three municipalities – Kavadarci, Kochani and Shtip. Through training, mentoring and practical learning, 45 young people aged 15–29 will strengthen their competencies and work with municipalities, Local Youth Councils, youth organisations and employers.

Project activities include organisation of a Youth Civic and Career Academy, visits to institutions and employers, the Civic Watch digital mechanism for identifying local needs, and collaborative workshops to develop solutions. Nine Youth Action Grants will support local youth-led initiatives, while a Municipal Responsiveness Scorecard will assess how municipalities respond to young people’s priorities.

The project will pursue the following objectives:

  • Strengthen young people’s employability skills, administrative literacy, civic and leadership competencies, professional networks and confidence to participate actively in local development.
  • Improve cooperation among young people, municipalities, Local Youth Councils, youth organisations and employers to jointly identify priorities and implement practical solutions.
  • Establish sustainable mechanisms for local governance that responds to young people’s needs and proposals.

The Institute for Democracy “Societas Civilis” – Skopje implements the project in cooperation with the municipalities of Kavadarci, Kochani and Shtip and youth organisations with local presence.

Implementation period: October 2026 – September 2028.

Funding: 200,000 EUR.

Donor: Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in North Macedonia, through the MATRA programme.
