Open data is an important tool for transparency, accountability, and civic participation. Although the Parliament has an open data portal, part of the data is published in technical formats that are difficult for the wider public to use. This limits its potential for information, analysis, and public oversight.
The project “Parliamentary Open Data in Practice: Building Civic Engagement” aims to bring parliamentary open data closer to citizens, media, civil society organizations, students, and young people. The project combines the development of a user-oriented dashboard, practical training on the use of open data, a digital campaign, and advocacy for the sustainability of the solution.
The project will systematize and visualize selected data related to parliamentary questions, the “My MP” platform, and citizens’ contact offices. At the same time, it will strengthen users’ capacities to access, interpret, and use open data for monitoring the work of the Parliament and encouraging greater public accountability.
The project is implemented by the Institute for Democracy “Societas Civilis” – Skopje, with support from the Digital Spark programme.
Implementation period: April 2026 – September 2026.
Approved funds: USD 13,000.
Donor: Regional Support Mechanism for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA), supported by the CIVICUS Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI)
