Berlin Process after Tirana 2023? Redefining the role of civil society

This project aims to advance the position of the civil society organisations (CSOs) and think tanks in the Berlin Process. Through a series of planned activities, the project aims to explore different ways to amplify the impact organisations and think tanks have within the existing Berlin Process provided framework.

The project builds up on the 2023 Civil Society Forum (CSF) organized in Tirana last year and the extensive recommendations that have been produced by the seven thematic working groups, but also takes into consideration the decade of the Berlin process and civil society forums. The envisioned activities of the project involve creating a space for the CSOs and the relevant stakeholders to reflect on the past and equip themselves for the future events starting with the 2024 Summit in Berlin. The project’s goal is to determine the effectiveness of the entire CSF exercise so far and to discuss which is the most beneficial way of CSOs inclusion in the process.

Planned activities:

  • Closed workshop on the topic of redefining the role of civil society in the Berlin Process
  • Advocacy visit to Sarajevo and Belgrade
  • Advocacy visit to Berlin

Duration: November 2023 – March 2024

Donor: Open Society Foundation – Western Balkans (OSF – WB)

Approved funds: $44.000
