The Institute for Democracy ‘Societas Civilis’ – Skopje (IDSCS) begins with the implementation of the project ‘Agora Sessions – Practicing Participatory Policy-Making’. The goal of the project is to contribute to increased participation of the Macedonian civil society in the process of policy making in the rule of law area (Chapters 23 and 24 of the EU acquis). Taking into account the low level of participation of the civil society organizations in the process of policy making, the need for joint CSO actions to pressure policymakers in rule of law reforms becomes a pressing issue. This will be done through several meetings, Agora sessions which will include CSOs and experts. In addition, there is a need for comprehensive evaluation of the participatory policy-making process and in the framework of the project IDSCS will produce one policy brief and one study on the topic.
The project will also produce a roster of experts in rule of law, as well as on-line policy calendar which will be published on IDSCS’ website.
The project will be implemented in the period May 2015 – March 2016, with a total budget of £ 64,280. The project is financially supported by the British Embassy in Skopje.
