Much wider\u00a0 process labeled as Europeanization deeply protrudes in institutions and\u00a0 social practices and gives rise to contesting discourses, linked\u00a0 equally\u00a0 to the past, present and future of the WB countries. The\u00a0 Europeanization discourses are the framework in which questions of identity and\u00a0 everyday politics are equally being recontextualized.<\/p>\n<p>The role of mass media in Europeanization can be seen through different lenses. They offer images and texts as symbolic resources to think\u00a0 about EU integrations, and in doing so they often serve elite agendas. They\u00a0 also provide a space for discussion and exchange of arguments on EU\u00a0 related topics; they build knowledge and understanding for the informed\u00a0 debate and foster citizens\u2019 participation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/idscs.org.mk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2nd%20cfp%20europe%20here%20and%20there%20conference%202013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">This conference<\/a> aims at gathering researchers interested in diverse Europeanization discourses, in representations of the EU and Europe, focused primarily but not exclusively on the Western Balkan counties.<br \/>\nPapers on the following kinds of topics are especially welcome:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mass media and political discourses about\u00a0 Europeanization;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Textual and visual representations of Europe;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cross-discursive analysis of Europeanization (e.g.<br \/>\nEuropeanization and Globalization, Economy and Europeanization);<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ideological layers in discourse about Europe and<br \/>\nEuropeanization;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Media representations of European cultural contexts;<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The media role in forming European publics;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The potential of Internet to become an alternative\u00a0 channel of<br \/>\narticulation of EU related views.<\/p>\n<p>PARTICIPATION AND REGISTRATION<\/p>\n<p>Please send abstracts of 300 words maximum in English to the organizers (<a href=\"mailto:europeanization@ff.uns.ac.rs\">europeanization@ff.uns.ac.rs<\/a>). Submissions should contain a title\u00a0 page with the title of the presentation, name(s), affiliation(s) and\u00a0 contact data of author(s).<\/p>\n<p>DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS 20TH APRIL 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will be notified about results by 30th April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>There is no conference fee.
