Despite the commitment of North Macedonia to implementing a national reform agenda, achieving meaningful progress remains a complex task. The EU accession process is complemented by two interconnected initiatives: the Reform and Growth Facility, introduced in 2023, and the Common Regional Market (CRM), introduced through the Berlin Process initiative in 2021, which also serves as second pillar of the Reform and Growth Facility.

The Reform and Growth Facility through the national Reform Agendas, is designed to drive transformative reforms in key areas, aligning the region more closely with the European Union’s Single Market. At the same time, it emphasizes the importance of strengthening economic integration within the Western Balkans through the CRM. Building on the first CRM Action Plan (2021–2024), the second Action Plan (CRM 2.0, 2025–2029) continues to provide a framework for collaboration, addressing shared priorities and challenges. By encompassing the CRM within its scope, the Growth Facility underscores the interconnectedness of these initiatives, incentivizing countries in the region to implement reforms that are essential for fostering both regional cooperation and broader European integration.

The overall project goal is to enhance communication and broaden awareness of tangible benefits that will improve quality of life and business environment in North Macedonia by focusing on the following two pillars from the Reform and Growth facility:

1) Enhancing economic integration with the EU’s single market and pillar

2) Boosting regional economic integration through the Common Regional Market.

The specific project objectives are:

1) To raise awareness among the public, business sector, and lawmakers on the opportunities of the Growth Plan’s pillars, from the viewpoint of increasing their quality of life and enabling business environment.

2) Increasing the knowledge and understanding of the necessary steps required to align with EU standards and achieve national Reform Agenda’s goals.

Duration: 01.01.2025 – 31.12.2025

Donor: Open Society Foundation – Western Balkans (OSF – WB)

Budget: $39,763.08

The project addresses the critical challenges that Western Balkan countries, including North Macedonia, face in their journey toward effective integration with the European Union.
