The Institute for Democracy is proud to announce the start of the 4th Regional Leadership Academy for Development for the Western Balkans. <\/strong>The course will take place from 7-11 March, 2022 in Skopje, North Macedonia and is delivered in partnership with the Faculty of Law \u2018Iustinianus Primus\u2019 from Skopje, supported by the Balkan Trust for Democracy (BTD) and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).<\/p>\n

The Leadership Academy for Development (LAD) is a flagship project led by Professor Francis Fukuyama. \u00a0The Program is housed at the Centre on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL) at Stanford University<\/strong>,<\/p>\n

The five-day intensive training program is led by professors Francis Fukuyama, Roger Leeds <\/strong>and Michael Bennon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This program for a select group of 25 mid- and high-level government officials and business leaders from North Macedonia and other Western Balkans countries is designed to address how government can encourage and enable the private sector to play a larger, more constructive role as a force for economic growth and development. Participants will learn how to be effective reform leaders and to promote sound public policies in complex and contentious settings.<\/p>\n

The Leadership Academy for Development<\/strong> is an intensive, off-site, executive-level training program directed towards mid-level government officials, prominent academics, civil society activists, think tankers and private sector practitioners who have public interest responsibilities and understanding of reforms that shape democratic life in their respective countries and contribute to economic development.<\/p>\n

Since 2017 CDDRL has held LAD programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro.<\/p>\n
