[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text animation_duration=”1″ animation_delay=”0″]The Institute for Democracy \u201cSocietas Civilis\u201d \u2013 Skopje will help municipalities in North Macedonia develop strategies and plans for crisis management and prevention.<\/p>\n

Through the implementation of the project \u201cImproved capacity for crisis response in municipalities in North Macedonia\u201d, the Institute will analyse the legal and institutional setup of the crisis management system, the place of municipalities in the system, and identify gaps and challenges that surfaced with the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the project is to strengthen the strategic response to crises for a selected number of municipalities in North Macedonia, and showcase a process of development of the Strategies for preparedness and response to crises for the rest of the municipalities.<\/p>\n

The project will support eight municipalities in developing plans, strategies and procedures for crisis management, in line with their size, geographical spread diversified economic and social development. In cooperation with the Association of the local self-government units, the project team will share the prepared plans and acquired knowledge with other municipalities, and review their Crisis preparedness and response models through consultative sessions.<\/p>\n

The project will inform citizens on municipalities\u2019 competencies in crisis prevention and management and the ways in which they can contribute to the processes. The aim of these activities will be to create public interest and demand for better performance of local self-government units in crisis management.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the project will monitor the inclusion of crisis prevention and management plans in the electoral campaign for the 2021 local elections, and will advocate for their inclusion in the political parties\u2019 programmes.<\/p>\n
