There are weaknesses in the regulation that are a potential risk for abuse and corruption, related to state advertising and paid political advertising in the media. For this purpose, the Institute for Democracy organized an event where the dangers of state and paid political advertising were discussed with a reference to the current legal measures that do not comply with European regulation.
Through state advertising, clientelism can easily enter the relationship between the state and the media. The possibility of granting state money to certain television stations hides the potential for abuse. Paid political advertising is financed from the budget, but this does not lead to greater responsibility for the parties, on the contrary, the parties rent time from the media, where they do not need to advertise, or in terms that are not seen or heard at all.
