Corruption in higher education exists in different forms and is practiced in different ways, but although students mostly recognize it, they still do not report it. This is the main conclusion of the event “Forms of corruption in higher education” organized by the Institute for Democracy, which discussed the forms of corruption in higher education and the role of students in the fight against corruption.
Despite the concerning rates of corruption and nepotism in higher education, a large majority of students are not familiar with the reporting process, but even among those who are already familiar, there is a great fear of the consequences after applying. For this purpose, education about the mechanisms for reporting corruption and promotion of the already existing reporting bodies is needed, and it is also necessary to establish mechanisms for the protection of those who will report.
