The right to education is a universal human right that is recognized worldwide. Its importance for the personal development of individuals and building of societies cannot be overstated. According to UNICEF‟s Human Rights Education for All approach1 , the right to education encompasses the obligation of the state to rule out discrimination at all levels of the educational system, to set minimum standards and to improve the quality of education. The policy brief addresses the issue of ethnicbased physical segregation in public schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Macedonia (MK).
